At Cihan University Erbil, dozens of blood bottles were donated to the blood bank
A significant blood donation drive was organized inside the campus with the assistance of the Blood Bank Administration in Erbil under the direction of professor Dr. Amjad Saber Dalawi, president of Cihan University Erbil.
Under the direction of Dr. Sane Ababker Argo and Dr. Amina Sabah, head of the Department of Medical Microbiology, the campaign was started on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. Many instructors and students visited the blood bank’s team to take part in the campaign by giving a bottle of blood.
One Cihan University Erbil participant remarked, “Donating a vial of blood will save a person’s life from death.” “I feel this more than everyone else because my thalassaemic friend passed away from blood deficiency.”
“Our team is ready to receive blood from any organization, and today it is to offer the essential blood for Thalassemia patients and cancer patients,” a different bloodmobile team member added. Cihan Institution Erbil, a site of admiration and respect for the university in charge of such a campaign, invited us to start a blood-collecting campaign.
Medical Microbiology Department Head Dr. Amina Sabah stated: “When our department first started at the university, we committed to taking part in the blood donation campaign twice a year since research has shown that every three seconds a person needs blood. When someone needs blood, it is a joy to follow our university’s yearly tradition, help the community, and promote the culture and spirit of volunteerism among students in a specific manner and this year in general.
As in previous years, we took part in a blood donation at the university camp. As part of the campaign, many students from many departments and faculty reacted to the president of Cihan University Erbil’s declaration by presenting blood bottles to the blood bank mobile team in Erbil in only one-hour blood donors.
According to studies, giving blood can save lives in addition to boosting the donor’s physical, mental, and emotional health. It can also foster a culture of community service and collaboration by encouraging people to give of themselves in need.
As one of the top universities in the Kurdistan Region, Cihan University Erbil has consistently been able to assist the local community and various government agencies through a variety of projects. Participation in this campaign is seen as a crucial component of Cihan University Erbil’s work, which organizes the annual campaign.
