A field trip to Capital Tower Project for the students of Civil Engineering Department
On Thursday, November 25th, 2021_ the Department of Civil Engineering, Cihan University-Erbil organized a field trip for fourth year students to visit Capital Tower Project on Bahirka Road in Erbil. This project is one of the city’s large projects consisting of 38 commercial and residential floors.
The field trip included a detailed explanation for the students by Dr. Ako Darayei, to practically explain the ‘Foundations Engineering’ subject in the fourth stage. The excavation process and tests conducted on the soil to determine its characteristics and determine the appropriate type of foundation were further illustrated.
Furthermore, the executive engineer of the project explained the process of arming the foundation and structural design in terms of the type of iron used and the process of examining the steel bars before use where it must be in accordance with Iraqi standards. He also clearly answered the students’ questions about the project and the stages of progress of the work
