The Department of Business Administration organizes a joint workshop with Al-Yasra General Trading Company
On November 29-30, 2021 the Department of Business Administration, Cihan University-Erbil organized a joint workshop with Al-Yasra Company for Food Stuff and General Trade. It was held in the presence of a large number of professors and students of Cihan University-Erbil. The workshop entitled “Entrepreneurship and Business Development” was divided into four main parts:
The first part of the workshop was presented by Dr. Rashid Hatahat, Director of Development at Al-Yasra Company. He dealt with entrepreneurship in Iraq and its impact on major companies, the main factors that make companies possess entrepreneurship, the most important feature of entrepreneurial companies that give the ability to work in uncertain conditions and its readiness to challenge and take risks in order to obtain more profits. In addition, he explained about the importance of developing the products continuously to adapt to consumer’s requirements while giving the opportunity to enter new products with distinct specifications that attract the consumer and give the companies the ability to maintain their entrepreneurial position.
The second part was presented by Dr. Aram Hanna Masoudi. His seminar entitled “Business Risk Management” addressed the most important risks that organizations face, including working in exceptional circumstances such as the Covid-19 pandemic, management of risk through insurance companies. He also clarified about the importance of understanding the correct concept of insurance to control the technological and informational risks that organizations face which threaten the organization’s systems. The ignorance of the regulations and instructions for some workers, financial waste due to the weak technical level of some users of systems, monitoring the financial violations by external control authorities, poor qualification of workers and the lack of specialists in the administrative and financial field were also explained.
The third part entitled “Strategic Planning” was presented by the Assistant Lecturer Manaf Basil Raewf. He addressed the importance of strategic planning in preserving capital, setting a time frame for implementing work, managing crises, optimizing the use of resources and making decisions to face the business risks. Furthermore, he illustrated about gaining a competitive advantage which has a crucial part in obtaining entrepreneurship in organization.
The fourth and final part was presented by the Assistant Lecturer Azwar Mahdi Saleh, the current director of marketing at Al-Yasra Company. His topic was entitled “Marketing for Business and Companies,” which discussed the marketing department of the entrepreneurial companies, the tasks and functions of that department. The difference between marketing and sales and the necessity of marketing products by region were also clarified.
At the end of the workshop, the participants asked a series of questions which opened the door to discuss different matters that relate to the workshop’s major topics.
