The Department of Media Students Gain Firsthand Insight into Legal Procedures at Erbil Court of Appeal
On Sunday, February 9th, 2025, second-stage media students at Cihan University-Erbil embarked on an educational field trip to the Erbil Court of Appeal, offering them a unique opportunity to witness legal proceedings firsthand. Accompanied by Dr. Ali Muneem Muhammad, the students explored the inner workings of the court and engaged in discussions with legal professionals.
The group, which included students Qaraman Juwher Khidr, Sarkar Hussein Hamad, Omar Ghalib Abdul Latif, Ziyar Ismail Abdul Rahim, Julia Hatim Mahmoud, and Sarwin Zati Najmuddin, toured various departments within the court, gaining insight into the processes involved in marriage and divorce cases. They had the opportunity to speak with judges and lawyers, learning about the specific legal procedures and challenges associated with these matters.
This visit was part of the students’ ongoing research for a report focusing on divorce and preemptive marriage procedures within the court system. By observing real-life cases and interacting with legal experts, the students gained valuable insights that will inform their academic work.
The field trip highlights Cihan University-Erbil’s commitment to providing students with practical experiences that complement their classroom learning. By bridging the gap between theory and practice, these visits equip students with a deeper understanding of their chosen field and prepare them for future careers in media and journalism.
