The Department of Media Students Visited the General Directorate for Combating Violence Against Women and the Family
On Tuesday, 27.2.2024, the Media Department at Cihan University – Erbil organized a scientific visit for third-stage students to the General Directorate for Combating Violence against Women and the Family in Erbil.
The scientific visit was conducted under the supervision of the assistant teacher, Dalan Ismail Mawloud, and the students were welcomed by Colonel Sven Taher, the Director General of the Directorate of Combating Violence against Women and the Family. During his address, Colonel Sven emphasized the crucial role of the media in educating community members to foster a conducive environment for the safe and harmonious coexistence of family members.
In another segment of the visit, Peirho Einnoir, the individual responsible for the Family Counseling Center, spoke about the law on combating domestic violence. Additionally, she provided an introduction to the center, including its establishment date, emphasizing its primary goal of preventing the deterioration of the family system.
The students also visited the Voice of Equality radio as part of their visit to the Directorate of Combating Violence against Women and the Family in Erbil. The supervisor of Equality Radio explained that the radio station, Voice of Equality, commenced broadcasting with the assistance of UNICEF on the frequency 101.9 FM. He mentioned that the radio station aims to convey a clear message of family reconciliation by discussing the law on combating domestic violence and highlighting the dangers of misusing communication devices. Furthermore, the radio station elucidates various laws beneficial to women, ensuring their rights, with insights provided by experts.
Additionally, the supervisor mentioned the hotline 119, dedicated to women in the Kurdistan Region. This hotline allows women to communicate with officers and employees of the Directorate of Combating Violence against Women and the Family in case of any problems and family violations.
