The Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies Organized a Scientific Trip to Rapareen Hospital
On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, second-stage students from the Radiological Imaging Technologies Department at Cihan University – Erbil embarked on an enriching scientific trip to Rapareen Hospital. Led by Assistant Lecturer Abdul Alim from Cihan University – Erbil, the visit offered an invaluable opportunity for students to delve into the world of diagnostic imaging devices. The primary aim of this visit was to increase student’s knowledge of Computed Tomography (CT) scans and fluoroscopy devices.
They were welcomed by the radiographer, Mrs. Maryam Anwar from the hospital. During the visit, the students were given a comprehensive overview of CT scans and fluoroscopy devices by Mr. Abdul Alim and the hospital’s radiology technicians. The briefing covered the principles of operation, patient preparation, safety protocols, and common applications of both modalities. Additionally, students were briefed on the importance of radiation protection measures and proper patient positioning.
After the CT scan observation, students were allowed to participate in a hands-on session with the fluoroscopy device under the supervision of experienced Mr. Abdul Alim and radiology technicians. They practiced basic operating procedures, such as image acquisition, adjusting settings, and manipulating the equipment. This interactive session enabled students to gain confidence in handling fluoroscopy devices and reinforced their understanding of real-time imaging techniques.
Finally, the students left the hospital, expressing their excitement for the valuable information they gained during the visit.
