The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG) Explores Art Festival at Cihan University-Erbil
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani expressed the significance of artistic endeavors and emphasized that the artistic expression of a nation’s heritage and culture is encapsulated in its artwork, serving as a global showcase of its identity through artistic mediums.
During his visit to Cihan University-Erbil on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, and Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger, Chairman of board of the trustees of Cihan Universities, Schools and Institutes.
During the visit, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani inaugurated the annual festival of the Institute of Fine Arts of the KRG at the Art Gallery of Cihan University-Erbil. The event was attended by Dr. Alan Hama Saeed, Minister of Education of the KRG. Prime Minister Masrour Barzani praised the artistic works of students, emphasizing his continued support for the arts.
In a media interview, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani expressed his passion for art, particularly painting, stating, “I desired to attend this exhibition and observe the varied artistic expressions of our young talents.” He commended the youth for their exceptional work, expressing optimism about their potential to evolve into accomplished artists in the future. Prime Minister Barzani pledged support for the fine arts across all cities and towns in Kurdistan, emphasizing that his presence at the exhibition serves as a reaffirmation of that commitment.
Prime Minister Barzani concluded by reiterating that artwork serves as a reflection of a country’s history and cultural identity, conveying these aspects to the world through artistic expression.
