Cihan University-Erbil participates in the work of the Coordinating Committee between the Ministry of Education and the Colleges of Education in the Universities of Kurdistan Region
On Sunday, August 18th, 2024 a meeting was held in the conference hall of the Presidency of the University of Sulaimani to organize and review the curricula in educational colleges, The meeting was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Khattab Ahmed Mustafa, General Director of Education, Planning, and Follow-up, and Assistant Professor Dr. Zhala Saeed Khattat, General Director of Research and Development at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as Professor Dr. Kosar Mohammed Ali, President of the University of Sulaimani, and Dr. Ahmed Abd Aoun, Head of the Department of General Education at Cihan University – Erbil, representing the College of Education at Cihan University – Erbil. The meeting was also attended by several general directors from the Ministry of Education and the deans of the colleges of education in the universities.
In the meeting, the attendees discussed the importance of reviewing and organizing the curricula in educational colleges, especially the opening of new departments in these colleges according to the needs and importance identified by the Ministry of Education. The discussion emphasized the significance of educational and psychological courses and stressed that the scope of scientific research should address the problems faced by the Ministry of Education so that graduates of the colleges of education can obtain employment opportunities in educational centers. To this end, the meeting underscored the need for joint work between the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Education, as well as the importance of coordinating cooperation in various fields of educational work.
During the meeting, the representative of Cihan University -Erbil, Dr. Ahmed Abd Aoun, highlighted the importance of coordination and joint work between the Ministry of Education and the colleges of education and educational departments. He pointed to the various activities carried out by Cihan University -Erbil with the Ministry of Education in general, including the organization of multiple pedagogical training courses for teachers and educators of the Ministry of Education over three consecutive sessions which effectively contributed to training a large number of them according to the latest theories of learning and teaching methods and the implementation of technology in teaching. He also emphasized the need for further joint future work to develop competent teachers and to create a generation of students with distinguished scientific, cognitive, and educational skills and abilities.
