They also had discussion on how to translate some media texts from Kurdish to English and vice versa.
On the second day of workshop, participants reached the following set of recommendations and academic proposals:
- Emphasizing the necessity of understanding the importance and seriousness of translator’s work in conveying meaning, where he has a great responsibility in the accuracy of the translation and its credibility.
- Being aware of the type of translation work, the translator should consider the media text whether it is news, report, article, etc. This can be done through the provision of courses or lessons in writing media texts for the translators, because the work of the translator demands rewriting the text in a way touching his art.
- Reviewing and setting some ethics and principles that must be complied with in the process of translation. Some principles like honesty, accuracy and objectivity in translation, and mastering both languages for translation should be considered.
