Cihan University-Erbil Achieves a Qualitative Leap in Higher Education by Integrating “Sustainable Development Goals” Course into its Academic Curricula
In a pioneering move that reflects its vision of forward-thinking and profound commitment to social responsibility, and in a landmark academic achievement at both local and international levels, Cihan University-Erbil has integrated a new and innovative course titled “The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs)” into its curriculum, commencing in the second semester of the current academic year.

The student projects garnered considerable acclaim from the university’s Sustainable Development Council, which recently reviewed the course’s substantial outcomes. The Council lauded the profound positive impact on raising student awareness and engaging them in critical thinking about environmental, social, and economic issues. Furthermore, the Council addressed certain implementation challenges, affirming that the university is committed to refining these aspects to elevate the course to higher levels of efficacy and innovation.
As part of its strategic vision, the university has announced plans to expand the scope of student projects and strengthen partnerships with relevant organizations and institutions dedicated to sustainable development.
