In Latest Ranking, Cihan University-Erbil Secures Top Rank Among Private Universities in Kurdistan Region and Iraq
In a recent academic ranking, Cihan University-Erbil has achieved the top position among all private universities in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq for the academic year (2022-2023). This remarkable achievement adds to the university’s growing list of academic accomplishments, further enhancing its commitment to education, students, and society as a whole.
Annually, the Iraqi Engineers Union conducts a rigorous evaluation of engineering departments across universities and colleges in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, utilizing various scientific and academic criteria. Subsequently, they rank all the participating universities. In this year’s evaluation, Cihan University-Erbil proudly secured the first-place position for the academic year (2022-2023).
The head of the Iraqi Engineers Union, Mr. Zulfiqar Hoshi al-Maqsoosi, emphasized that this ranking is the outcome of on-site visits conducted by the union’s inspection and evaluation committee to universities and colleges. These visits involve a comprehensive assessment using a specially prepared assessment form, which covers the academic, artistic, and technical aspects of engineering departments within universities and university colleges.
The head of the Iraqi Engineers Union expressed his gratitude, saying, “We would like to extend our appreciation to all universities and colleges for their collaborative efforts and adherence to the evaluation criteria pertaining to academic, artistic, and technical aspects.”
Recently, a committee from the Iraqi Union of Engineers evaluated 54 engineering departments across private universities and colleges in nine different governorates of Iraq for the academic year 2022-2023. On February 14, 2023, the committee from the Public and Private Center for Accreditation and Registration of Engineering Departments of the Iraqi Engineers Union, led by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Farhan Musleh, visited Cihan University-Erbil, along with Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil. During the meeting, the heads of the engineering departments provided a detailed explanation of the curriculum, laboratory facilities, and examination procedures. They also highlighted the various annual activities aimed at enhancing the skills and education of students.
Following the meeting, the committee paid a visit to the central examination committee of Cihan University-Erbil and the various departments and laboratories within the engineering departments. This visit provided the committee with valuable insights into the university’s examination processes, curricula, and other academic activities.
Cihan University-Erbil boasts four engineering departments, including Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Programming and Informatics, and Interior Design. These departments are equipped with advanced scientific laboratories and staffed by high-level academic professionals. Over the past years, in addition to training hundreds of professionals in various engineering fields, these departments have successfully hosted several international conferences that have played a pivotal role in the reconstruction and development of the country’s infrastructure.
