Professor Dr. Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil Receives the First Student Cohort Departing for an English Language Development Course in the UK

In line with its strategic goals to foster international relations and enhance students’ scientific and linguistic competencies, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, the President of Cihan University-Erbil, received the first group of students scheduled to depart for the United Kingdom on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. The cohort will participate in a specialized course designed to develop English language skills and introduce students to the British higher education system.
Strategic Guidance from the President
Organized in coordination with the International Foundation Group (IFG), this 12-day academic journey aims to broaden students’ intellectual horizons. During the meeting, attended by the university’s vice presidents, deans, and department heads, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi delivered a keynote address emphasizing the development of Critical Thinking skills. He noted that the course is not merely about language acquisition but is a vital opportunity for students to cultivate independent decision-making and professional growth. He further advised the students to integrate technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their respective fields, highlighting AI as the future of scientific advancement.
Students as National Ambassadors
Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi characterized the students as “Ambassadors for the University, Kurdistan, and Iraq,” urging them to embody the highest moral and ethical standards while abroad. He underscored the importance of preserving their cultural, religious, and social identity, stating: “While you must strictly adhere to the laws of the host country, you should never lose sight of the noble traditions and values instilled in you by your families and society.” In conclusion, the President instructed the students to prepare scientific proposals upon their return to share their international experiences with their peers through workshops and seminars. He reaffirmed that students remain integral members of the university community even after graduation, maintaining a lasting professional bond with their departments.
