Cihan University-Erbil Lecturer Explores Advanced Pediatric and Primary Healthcare Services in Neijiang, China

On Thursday, June 25, 2026, A.L. Hero Ismael Mohammed, an academic staff member from the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cihan University -Erbil, participated in the ongoing training program in China, which included a field visit to Neijiang First People’s Hospital. The visit was organized to provide participants with an opportunity to observe the hospital’s Early Childhood Development Center and its advanced pediatric healthcare services.
Upon arrival, A.L. Hero Ismael was warmly received by the hospital staff members and Mr. Liu Li, Director of Public Affairs, who provided an overview of the hospital’s history, development, and healthcare achievements. During the visit, the participants toured the Pediatric Rehabilitation Center, where they observed the comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation process for children with developmental and mental disabilities.
The visit continued with tours of several specialized screening units, including vision screening, audiometric (hearing) screening, and bone density screening services. Mr. Liu explained that children requiring medical or rehabilitation services receive comprehensive care and support tailored to their individual needs. The visit concluded with a tour of the Intensive Care Unit, where participants were introduced to the hospital’s advanced medical technologies and modern patient care systems.
A.L. Hero Ismael later visited Bimu Town Central Health Center in Dongxing District, Neijiang City, to gain insights into the delivery of primary healthcare services at the township level and to compare them with the provincial-level hospitals previously visited during the training program.
She was received by Dr. Li Yan, Vice President of Bimu Town Central Health Center, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on the health center’s organizational structure, healthcare services, and its role within the regional healthcare system. They then toured the Traditional Chinese Medicine Unit, where they observed acupuncture services and the integration of traditional Chinese medicine into routine patient care. Dr. Li explained how patients are diagnosed and treated using a combination of traditional therapies, including various herbal medicines and medicinal teas prepared from Chinese plants, which continue to be widely accepted and preferred by many people in China.
The visit also included the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Unit, where participants observed rehabilitation services for individuals with disabilities and were introduced to modern equipment designed to strengthen muscles, restore physical function, and enhance patients’ quality of life.
Overall, the visit provided valuable insights into China’s integrated healthcare system, highlighting the country’s commitment to early childhood development, rehabilitation services, traditional Chinese medicine, and the provision of accessible, high-quality healthcare at both the tertiary and primary healthcare levels.
