Department of Community Health Nursing Completes Two-Day Suturing Skills Training at Cihan University-Erbil

The Community Health Nursing Department at Cihan University-Erbil successfully organized a two-day Suturing Skills Training Program for midwifery students on July 1–2, 2026. The program welcomed participants from Erbil Polytechnic University and Shaqlawa Technical Institute and aimed to strengthen their clinical knowledge and practical skills in wound management and suturing techniques.
The training was held in the department’s Fundamental Nursing Laboratory and Maternity and Pediatric Nursing Laboratory under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Zin Zivinkee, Head of the Community Health Nursing Department.
The program was delivered by Mr. Omed Salam, Ms. Kawthar Shahab, and Ms. Baran Jumaa, who provided both theoretical instruction and practical demonstrations. Participants received comprehensive training in wound classification, suturing materials and instruments, wound preparation, various suturing techniques, and the prevention and management of wound closure complications.
To maximize learning outcomes, the program combined interactive lectures, educational videos, live demonstrations, hands-on laboratory practice, and pre- and post-training assessments. These activities enabled participants to develop essential clinical competencies in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
The program concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony recognizing the participants’ successful completion of the training. Outstanding participants were recognized for their excellent performance, and valuable feedback was collected to support the continuous improvement of future training initiatives. The event concluded with a group photograph commemorating the successful collaboration among the participating institutions.
