Inauguration of “Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger Museum” at Cihan University-Erbil: A Hub for Future Research and National Heritage Preservation

In a formal and prestigious ceremony held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the “Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger Museum” was officially inaugurated on Cihan University-Erbil campus. This museum is established as a new scientific and intellectual landmark, designed to foster cultural development and introduce younger generations to the historical and civilizational dimensions of Kurdistan.
The ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil; Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities; the Head of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations; the Governor of Erbil; the Head of the KDP 2nd Branch; several university presidents; and a distinguished group of academics, religious figures, intellectuals, and artists.
Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger: A Museum for the Future
Commencing with the national anthem “Ay Raqib,” the ceremony featured a keynote address by Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger, who emphasized the concept of the “Future Museum.” He stated that the objective of this center is to document the nation’s heritage and create a bridge between the past and the future. “Through knowledge and labor, we build civilizations. Our museum is not merely a place to view the past, but a sanctuary for academics and scholars to study and strategize the future construction of our homeland,” Dr. Bajger remarked. He called upon all sectors of society—entrepreneurs, politicians, and religious leaders—to work collectively to develop Kurdistan and preserve its history.
Governor of Erbil: A Valuable Gift to the Capital’s Heritage
In his speech, Mr. Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, commended the “Haji Yahya Bajger” family for their significant contributions to the academic, commercial, and philanthropic sectors of the city. He noted that the inauguration of this museum is a precious gift to the people of Erbil, seamlessly linking history, the present, and the future. The Governor emphasized that such initiatives strengthen youth confidence in their nation and establish the capital as a vital Future Research Center.
Technical and Artistic Excellence
Regarding the project’s execution, Mr. Payedar Sheikh Mu’tasim, the Museum Director, announced that the center is the culmination of six months of continuous effort by dedicated engineering and artistic teams. He extended special gratitude to Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger for this opportunity and praised the meticulous work of engineer and artist Burhan Sabir, whose architectural and artistic touch is evident throughout the facility. The Director reaffirmed the goal of elevating the museum to international standards, serving as a cultural window for visitors to explore the city’s authentic identity.
Public Invitation
Following a short documentary on the life and contributions of Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger, the guests officially opened the museum and toured its various sections, which house rare artifacts, manuscripts, historical documents, and valuable archaeological pieces.
Seizing this event, the University Presidency and the Museum Administration invite researchers and the general public to visit this center, viewing their presence as support for the scientific and cultural movement in the Kurdistan Region—a vital step toward an academic environment that integrates a passion for history with a vision for the future.
