Commencement of the Cihan University-Erbil Night Festival for Handicrafts and the Exhibition of Corporate and Restaurant Products

On Thursday, August 27, 2026, on the occasion of the start of the new academic year (2026–2027), the Cihan University-Erbil Night Festival was officially opened during a special evening ceremony held in a unique and vibrant atmosphere. The festival was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil; Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities and Institutes; Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil; and Saman Arab, Director General of the Erbil Investment Board.
Members of the University Council, along with a significant number of academic staff and university students, participated in the opening ceremony. Following the inauguration, the President of Cihan University-Erbil and his accompanying guests toured the various sections of the festival, where they viewed a diverse range of works and products.
In this context, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, praised the efforts of the participants and reaffirmed the university presidency’s support for developing capabilities and skills and promoting the talents of gifted individuals. He also thanked the participating companies and encouraged them to take advantage of this opportunity to showcase their products to visitors and guests.
The festival, which will continue for 10 nights, features several companies displaying a variety of goods and products, while talented individuals showcase their handicrafts for visitors and potential buyers. The festival aims to support local products and highlight the artistic and practical skills of young people.
At the same time, the university’s colleges and academic departments are introducing their programmes and displaying the products, capabilities, and skills of their students to visitors and festival attendees. On the sidelines of the festival, university students, talented individuals, and artists are presenting a variety of artistic performances, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere that adds further cultural and aesthetic value to the festival evenings.
The festival also serves as an important opportunity to bring citizens and university students together and promote local handicrafts in a vibrant nighttime setting. It provides an effective platform for supporting small business owners and showcasing locally produced goods. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the organization of such cultural festivals, which have created a distinctive atmosphere of enthusiasm, interaction, and community engagement.
