DESCRIPTION

The Department of Optometry and Vision Techniques at Cihan University - Erbil was established in the 2024-2025 academic year as part of the College of Health Technology. Optometry and vision techniques focus on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of vision problems and eye disorders. These include using specialized tools and technologies to examine the eyes, identify refractive errors, and detect conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal diseases.

Its vision is to be a leading academic department recognized for excellence in optometry education, research, and technological advancement. It aims to develop future-ready optometrists who will shape the field and elevate eye health standards worldwide by integrating cutting-edge technology, such as advanced imaging and AI in vision care, with human expertise.

MISSION

To educate and train highly skilled optometrists and vision specialists proficient in the latest techniques and technologies in eye care, contributing to the advancement of healthcare through ethical practice, innovation, and continuous professional development.
