DESCRIPTION

The department of Physiotherapy was established in 2017, as part of the Faculty of Health Technology at Cihan University-Erbil, and is the first and the only department in private universities in Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It provides a major focus for a health care profession dedicated for the improvement of overall quality of life, prevention of disability, and promotion of positive health. The Department of Physiotherapy accepts graduates of the scientific branch of high school and the corresponding technical institutes. A physiotherapist is part of the medical team which assists patients in reducing pain, restore mobility and flexibility, increase range of motion of joints, strengthen the muscles, maintain the correct posture of the body and rehabilitating physical problems caused by illness, injury, disability or aging, through treatment. The responsibilities of physiotherapists include planning treatments, reviewing recovery, and conducting therapeutic exercises with patients.

VISION

The vision of the Physiotherapy Department is to create advanced and innovative programs that enhance the provision of effective model services to improve the level of treatment and increase the speed of recovery from physical or mental injuries. This requires the preparation of qualified and specialized personnel with practical skills and experiences based on scientific foundations for the purpose of medical rehabilitation for a group of people in need. A graduate in this specialty will be able to help patients, side by side with the services provided by other clinical medical specialties or to interfere with them, and to have a leadership and distinct role that is subject to development in the fields of scientific research and postgraduate studies.

MISSION

The Department of Physiotherapy mission is to develop leaders in the profession who are committed to addressing the health needs of society through excellence in education. These leaders will advance the practice of physical therapy through superior clinical expertise, evidence-based practice, scholarship, and applied clinical inquiry.
