A Scientific Field Visit to the Urban Area Surrounding the Erbil Citadel by the Architectural Engineering Department Students
A group of fourth-year students from the Architectural Engineering Department visited a proposed site near the Erbil Citadel on Monday, January 20, 2025. This visit, organized by Lecturer Dr. Rebwar Ibrahim, aimed to provide the students with a comprehensive understanding of the site, identify its most significant features, and offer appropriate solutions and suggestions.
Furthermore, the visit served to connect the theoretical lectures in the Landscape Design course with the practical assignments, aligning with the department’s ongoing commitment to integrating theory and practice. During the visit, the students received detailed explanations of the purpose of the site visit, the key elements to consider, and how to leverage these insights for their upcoming presentations in the next lecture. One of the most important features is examining the adjacent buildings’ nature, the accessibility of pedestrians and cars, and the view from and to the proposed site. This initiative also aimed to equip the students with essential skills for analyzing the site and its surroundings, enhancing their understanding of the assignment.
The Department of Architectural Engineering at Cihan University-Erbil continuously strives to expose students to various types of projects and site analyses. This approach ensures that students develop a deep understanding of spatial and climatic factors, ultimately enhancing their performance and skills in the preliminary phases of the project design.
