On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Sali Khalil Baqir, Assistant Lecturer in the Medical Laboratory Analysis Department at Cihan University-Erbil, participated in a scientific field visit to HIFU Hospital in Chongqing, People’s Republic of China. The visit was conducted as part of the international training course, ‘Screening, Early Diagnosis, and Treatment of Cervical Cancer for Developing Countries.’
During the visit, Assistant Lecturer Sali Khalil Baqir and the other participants received scientific and practical briefings on the hospital’s operational systems, clinical workflow, patient preparation procedures, and treatment planning. The hospital’s specialists also introduced High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) technology, an advanced non-invasive medical technique used to treat various types of tumors and gynecological diseases without surgical intervention. By focusing ultrasound energy on targeted tissues, HIFU improves treatment outcomes while reducing pain, recovery time, and the complications commonly associated with conventional surgery.
In another phase of the visit, the participants toured the hospital’s specialized departments, observed advanced medical equipment, and reviewed several clinical cases successfully treated using HIFU technology. This field visit provided an excellent opportunity for the Cihan University-Erbil lecturer to gain first-hand knowledge of the latest medical advancements in the People’s Republic of China while exchanging scientific expertise with healthcare professionals.
At the end of the visit, the participants took part in an open discussion with hospital experts, during which they exchanged ideas and proposed recommendations for applying these innovative technologies in the healthcare sector. The visit concluded with a productive exchange of scientific knowledge aimed at strengthening the participants’ academic and professional development in this specialized field.
