A scientific visit to laboratories of the Standards and Metrology Authority for the students of Nutrition and Dietetics Department

On Tuesday_ September 28th, 2021, Third year students of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Cihan University-Erbil went on a scientific visit to the laboratories of the Standards and Metrology Authority of the Ministry of Industry, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Dr. Sarah Omar Sewar supervised the students to visit the laboratory.
The staff of the quality control section explained and clarified about all available facilities and instruments of their laboratories. They also explained all sensory tests, physical, chemical and microbiological examinations of foods and some other commodities in the local markets.
The students also got familiar with the mechanism and process of issuing certificates and licenses for the local factories, when they produce their goods.
This scientific visit was an important applied aspect of learning for students to increase their knowledge and to be informed about one of the job opportunities available to them after graduation.
