A Workshop on AI Applications in Medical Imaging
Aimed at staying at the forefront of technological advancements in the medical field, the Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies at Cihan University – Erbil organized a workshop titled AI Applications in Medical Imaging. It involved the participation of faculty members from various medical departments at the university.
The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Abdul Alim, who discussed key applications of artificial intelligence in medical imaging that enhance diagnostic accuracy and expedite medical data analysis. One of the topics covered was AI-powered medical image analysis systems, which utilize deep learning techniques to detect diseases with high precision, such as tumors and lung cancer. The session also addressed automated image segmentation, which allows for the precise delineation of tissues and organs, thereby aiding doctors in diagnosis and treatment planning.
Additionally, the workshop explored AI-assisted decision support systems, which assist medical professionals by suggesting potential diagnoses based on X-ray and MRI images, thus reducing diagnostic errors. Another significant topic discussed was AI-driven 3D imaging, which plays a crucial role in surgical planning and the diagnosis of neurological diseases by reconstructing tissue images with advanced precision.
Interestingly, the workshop saw active participation from attendees who engaged in discussions on how to integrate these technologies into academic curricula and clinical applications to improve medical education quality and enhance students’ practical skills.
It was part of a comprehensive training program initiated by the university to enhance the knowledge of AI applications in healthcare among faculty members, aligning with the rapid advancements in this field.
