Architectural Engineering Students Conduct a Scientific Visit to Mohammad Lighting Company
On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, second-year students from the Department of Architectural Engineering at Cihan University -Erbil conducted a scientific field visit to Mohammad Lighting Company under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Lana Shahab Ahmed.
The students were warmly received by Mr. Fuad Salim Ali, a lighting design specialist at the company, who provided a detailed presentation on modern lighting systems and their crucial role in enhancing architectural environments. He emphasized the importance of balancing natural and artificial lighting to create comfortable and functional spaces suited to various building types.
Mr. Fuad introduced students to different lighting types such as direct, indirect, and decorative systems and explained the application of smart lighting technologies aimed at improving energy efficiency and promoting environmental sustainability. He also showcased a range of lighting fixtures, highlighting their technical features, including light intensity, color temperature, and distribution methods, all of which correspond to specific architectural functions and aesthetic goals.
At the end of the visit, Assistant Lecturer Lana Shahab Ahmed guided the students in analyzing the relationship between lighting design and architectural form. She emphasized that lighting is not merely a decorative aspect but a fundamental component that defines a building’s visual identity and user experience. She further encouraged students to integrate thoughtful lighting strategies into their future architectural projects.
