Biomedical Sciences Department Student Represents Cihan University–Erbil at International Forensics Workshop During KSAPT 2025
Sara Hachim Sultan, a student from the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cihan University–Erbil, participated in a specialized workshop titled “Novel Psychoactive Substances in the Digital Era Markets: Fast Detection & AI-Enhanced Analysis.” The workshop was part of the 6th International Conference, Workshops, and Exhibition on Toxicology and Pharmacy (KSAPT), held from October 27 to 29, 2025, at The Narcissus The Royal Hotel in Saudi Arabia. It was organized under the umbrella of the Global Forensic Excellence Summit (GFEX) on October 28, 2025, and brought together experts, researchers, and students from leading institutions across the Middle East and Europe.
The workshop featured distinguished speakers, including Prof. Ornella Corazza, Professor of Addiction Science at the University of Trento, and Dr. Sulaf Assi, Reader in Forensic Intelligent Data Analytics at Liverpool John Moores University. Sara’s participation reflected Cihan University–Erbil’s commitment to engaging its students in international scientific platforms that address emerging global challenges. Through her involvement, she contributed to academic discussions on the detection and regulation of Novel Psychoactive Substances (NPS) and the integration of artificial intelligence in forensic and toxicological analysis. Her presence in the sessions underscored the active role of young researchers in bridging academic knowledge with real-world applications in public health and forensic sciences.
Additionally, the event brought together universities from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Lebanon, and the UAE, along with several European academic institutions. Sara’s participation enhanced the visibility of Cihan University–Erbil within the international scientific community and underscored the university’s ongoing commitment to supporting student engagement in advanced research, innovation, and cross-border collaboration in the fields of pharmacy, toxicology, and forensic science.
