Biomedical Sciences Department Students Attended a Practical Session on Nutrition, Metabolism, and Disease at the Diet Nutrition Center
On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, third-year students from the Department of Biomedical Sciences attended a practical session on Nutrition, Metabolism, and Disease at the Diet Nutrition Center in Erbil’s Mass City, under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Mohammed Hameed.
The students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Ali Hussein Alwan, a nutritionist, general director, and supervisor at the center. During the visit, the students were introduced to the InBody instrument, a cutting-edge device used for analyzing body composition. This device measures key components such as fat, muscle, protein, minerals, and water to assess obesity classification and overall body health.
In addition, the students gained hands-on experience in preparing personalized diet programs tailored to the specific cases they examined. They also practiced calculating the caloric content of various food items available at the center, enhancing their understanding of nutrition science and diet planning.
After the session, Dr. Sarah expressed her gratitude to Mr. Ali for providing the students with the opportunity to attend such an informative practical session at the center.
