
Biomedical Sciences Students Conduct a Health Awareness and Screening Activity for Erbil Retirees

On Sunday, September 20, 2026, second- and fourth-stage students from the Department of Biomedical Sciences organized a health awareness and screening activity for members of the Erbil Retirees Center under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hero Ismael Mohammed.
The students were warmly received by Mr. Younis Othman Khadir, Director of the Erbil Retirees Center, who expressed his appreciation for the initiative and its contribution to promoting health awareness among retirees.
The activity focused on promoting healthier lifestyle practices, including balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, and reducing the intake of foods high in sugar and salt. The students also provided healthy snacks, such as dates and nuts, to encourage nutritious food choices.
As part of the activity, the students conducted basic health screenings, including blood glucose, blood pressure, and Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements, while emphasizing the importance of regular health monitoring and preventive care.
At the end of the activity, the center’s members expressed their appreciation for the students’ professionalism and active contribution to promoting healthier lifestyles.
