Biomedical Sciences Students Visit Erbil Blood Bank for Insight into Blood Donation and Processing
On Monday, November 11, 2024, second-year students from the Biomedical Sciences Department visited the Erbil Blood Bank, gaining valuable hands-on experience in blood donation processes and the intricate steps involved in blood component separation. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Merza Hamoody, the students toured various units within the center, observing each stage of the blood processing journey.
The group was welcomed by Mr. Abbas Bahram Younis, Head of the Quality Control Unit, in the Blood Bank Conference Hall, where he provided an overview of the center’s quality standards and operational procedures. Mrs. Sheeren Abdulrahman Qadir from the Career Development Center guided the students, explaining the significance of each process and the different roles within blood bank operations. The students had the opportunity to explore various laboratories, deepening their understanding of the essential work conducted at the facility to ensure the safety and quality of donated blood.
