Cihan Secondary School Students Engage in Translation Activities Conducted by Translation Department Students
On Thursday, January 29, 2026, Hajer Raoof Samko and Rawan Abdullah Mazhar, students from the Department of Translation at Cihan University–Erbil, visited Cihan Secondary School. Under the supervision of their department head, Pola Tahseen Mohammad, they conducted engaging translation activities for Grade 10 students in Mr. Arazu Jamal Khder’s class. The activities were designed to provide students with opportunities to develop their translation skills and deepen their understanding of how meaning can be accurately conveyed between languages.
Grade 10 students participated in engaging translation exercises, which involved creating sentences to describe pictures in English and then translating them into their own languages. The students also tried translating documents into different languages. These activities offered practical, hands-on opportunities to practice translation at both the sentence and paragraph levels in multiple languages. The participants demonstrated great interest and enthusiasm throughout the sessions and clearly enjoyed taking part in the activities.
Overall, the visit was a successful educational experience that promoted active learning and encouraged students to explore translation as a valuable language skill. The activities not only helped students practice translation but also encouraged creative thinking about language use. Feedback from participants was positive, with many expressing appreciation for the opportunity to engage in these practical language activities.
