Cihan University-Erbil Achieves Record-Breaking Milestone in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings

In an unprecedented scientific achievement, Cihan University-Erbil has secured a significant milestone in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings. According to the newly released results, the university’s global standing has ascended to the (601–800) category among 1,603 international academic institutions. This represents a major strategic leap from its 2025 ranking, which placed the university in the (1001–1500) cohort.
Cihan University-Erbil earned an overall score of 61.7 out of 100, driven by its excellence across multiple key indicators. A standout highlight is the university’s inclusion in the Top 200 globally (ranking 101–200) for the “Affordable and Clean Energy” goal, underscoring its commitment to environmental stewardship.
Additionally, the university achieved strong scores in other sectors, including 62.4 in “Good Health and Well-being” and 60.0 in “Quality Education.” These accomplishments stem from the university’s active contribution to six primary UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), solidifying its position as a leading institution in Iraq and the region within the global academic arena.
