On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, led by Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, visited the district of Chamchamal to deliver assistance and aid provided by various universities.
In this context, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, accompanied the ministerial delegation and formally delivered the university’s substantial contribution to the district. Following the delivery of the aid, Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir delivered a speech acknowledging the magnitude of the tragedy. He expressed his deep appreciation for the private education sector—comprising both universities and institutes—viewing their extensive participation in the fundraising campaign as the fulfillment of a “national duty.” The Minister noted that these contributions act as a balm for the wounds of the people and serve as a vital step toward restoring normalcy and improving conditions in Chamchamal.
Furthermore, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research commended the private institutions, stating that their contributions convey a clear and powerful message: private education is not solely driven by financial gain but is deeply committed to reconstruction and humanitarian support, particularly when the nation faces crises and disasters. Consequently, Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir extended his gratitude to the participating universities on behalf of the Ministry and the people and institutions of Chamchamal.
Regarding the details of the contribution, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, stated: “The University Presidency, academic staff, employees, and students have financially contributed to this campaign.” He further announced that, in addition to financial aid, the university has decided to donate a comprehensive collection of books and scientific resources to the Chamchamal Public Library and Charmo University. This initiative aims to revitalize the local libraries and provide intellectual support to students, researchers, and the residents of the district.
