Cihan University-Erbil and the University of Agriculture in Krakow Collaborate on a Dual Degree Program and Scientific Exchange

As part of his official visit to Poland, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, held a significant meeting with Dr. hab. inż. Sylwester Tabor, Prof. URK, Rector of the University of Agriculture in Krakow.
During the meeting, which was attended by the delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Region, discussions centered on establishing academic relations between corresponding departments at the two universities. The Rector of the University of Agriculture in Krakow began by providing an overview of the institution, highlighting its scientific activities and achievements. In response, the President of Cihan University-Erbil underscored the importance of fostering strong collaboration between the two universities, particularly through their shared academic departments. He specifically identified the Departments of Nutrition and Dietetics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biomedical Science, and Management.
Professor Dr. Amjad then proposed the establishment of a dual degree program between the two universities, particularly in the identified shared academic disciplines. Under this program, Cihan University-Erbil students would have the opportunity to study for three years at their home institution and one year in Poland, ultimately earning degrees from both universities.
A major outcome of the meeting was the Polish Rector’s agreement to the President of Cihan University-Erbil’s request to admit graduates of Cihan University-Erbil to postgraduate programs (Master’s and Ph.D) across a range of disciplines offered by the university.
In the end, both parties agreed that the remaining areas of mutual interest would be discussed by their respective university councils to finalize and subsequently sign a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with implementation expected to begin in the 2026-2027 academic year. On this occasion, Professor Dr. Amjad extended a formal invitation to the Rector of the University of Agriculture in Krakow, the Vice-Rector, and a university delegation to visit Cihan University-Erbil next year. The visit is intended to provide them with a closer understanding of the university’s academic standards, strengthen coordination across various fields, and formally sign the MoU. The Rector of the University of Agriculture graciously accepted the invitation and expressed his appreciation.
