Cihan University – Erbil Faculty Members Participate in International Seminar on Railway Subgrade Engineering in China

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, Dr. Omer Zubir Zahir, Head of the Law and International Relations Departments, and Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qader from the Business Administration Department at Cihan University – Erbil, participated in an international seminar as part of a professional training program in China.

Presented by Zhang Jianjing, the seminar focused on the fundamentals of railway subgrade engineering, covering key topics including subgrade design, protection, maintenance, mapping, and fill materials used in subgrade construction. It also covered soil classification, the treatment of subgrade issues, and the major factors affecting railway foundations, including poor soil quality, water immersion, and dynamic train loads.

Additionally, it highlighted China’s advanced railway engineering and ongoing infrastructure development, demonstrating how modern technology and effective maintenance contribute to a safe and efficient railway network.

Finally, participants were provided with valuable engineering knowledge and practical insights, supporting the exchange of international expertise and strengthening academic and professional collaboration.
