Cihan University-Erbil Hosts Mini-Football Championship with the Participation of 20 Universities

An important and fruitful meeting was held in Erbil with the participation of representatives from twenty (20) public and private universities in the Kurdistan Region. The meeting took place at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Salahaddin University–Erbil, where a proposal was presented for Cihan University-Erbil to host and organize the Mini-Football Championship (Men’s) for universities across the Kurdistan Region.

Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Saeed Ahmed, a faculty member in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, represented Cihan University-Erbil at the meeting. He highlighted the university’s full readiness to host and supervise sporting activities and events at the regional university level. This commitment reflects the University Presidency’s emphasis on athletic activities and its ongoing efforts to enhance students’ sports skills and capabilities while providing them with a healthy environment.

Following an exchange of views and proposals, the participants reached a consensus on the submitted proposals, which were subsequently adopted. Accordingly, the following university sports championships will be held during the first and second semesters of this academic year at the designated universities across the Kurdistan Region:

1. University of Sulaimani: University Table Tennis Championship (Men & Women).
2. University of Zakho: University Basketball Championship (Men).
3. Salahaddin University–Erbil: University Swimming Championship (Men).
4. Cihan University–Erbil: University Mini-Football Championship (Men).
5. Salahaddin University–Erbil: University Chess Championship (Men & Women).
