Cihan University–Erbil Law Department Students on a Scientific Visit to the Public Prosecution Presidency in Kurdistan
Within the framework of enhancing the practical aspects of academic studies, the Law Department at Cihan University–Erbil organized a scientific visit for its students to the headquarters of the Public Prosecution Presidency in the Kurdistan Region on January 20, 2026. The delegation was received by Judge Dr. Mohammed Al-Rekani, a member of the Public Prosecution, and the visit was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Saman Hassan Ali.
The visit commenced with an insightful lecture delivered by Judge Dr. Mohammed Al-Rekani in the conference hall, during which he reviewed the organizational structure of the institution and outlined the duties of its administrative and judicial departments. His Honor focused on the vital role of the Public Prosecutor in initiating criminal proceedings, overseeing investigations, and gathering evidence, as well as conducting cases before the courts and filing legal appeals. He further emphasized the institution’s responsibility for protecting public funds and government institutions.
At the conclusion of the lecture, the Judge provided guidance and advice to students aspiring to join the Public Prosecution service in the future, explaining the required legal conditions and outlining the rights and duties of a Public Prosecutor, while highlighting their significant role in establishing justice and protecting society. The visit also included a field tour of the presidency’s departments, allowing students to gain a closer look at the institution’s operations.
At the end of the visit, Assistant Lecturer Saman Hassan Ali, on behalf of Cihan University–Erbil, expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the Public Prosecution Presidency and to Judge Dr. Mohammed Al-Rekani, praising the time and effort invested in enriching the students’ legal knowledge.
