Cihan University-Erbil Leads Coordination Efforts for Kurdistan-Jordan Higher Education Forum
Cihan University-Erbil took the initiative to sponsor a forum fostering collaboration between higher education institutions in the Kurdistan Region and Jordan. Prof. Dr. Amjad S. Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, played an instrumental role in organizing and facilitating this pivotal event.
On Sunday, May 5th, 2024, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani honored the Higher Education Forum, focusing on “Shaping the Future through Sustainable Development.” Among the notable attendees were Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Mamoun M. Al-Debi’e, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Jordan. Prof. Dr. Amjad S. Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, and his delegation, along with numerous academic leaders and university presidents from both Jordan and the Kurdistan Region, participated in the forum. Held in Hawler, the event aimed to advance higher education and foster sustainable development initiatives between the two regions.
Throughout the forum, a diverse range of activities were unfolded under the leadership of Cihan University-Erbil, which spearheaded the event. Prof. Dr. Amjad S. Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, played an active role in managing and coordinating the proceedings as a key member of the organizing and senior management committee. As part of these efforts, Cihan University-Erbil curated a video presentation highlighting the landscape of higher education in Kurdish and Arabic languages, which was showcased during the event. This video, outlining the past perspective, current viewpoint, and future outlook of higher education in the Kurdistan Region, emphasized numerous scientific milestones, both in terms of quantity and quality.
Additionally, a group of students from Cihan University-Erbil, acting as members of the reception committee, worked together with the executive committee to organize and assist with the event’s activities.
During the gathering, various aspects of higher education in both Jordan and the Kurdistan Region were discussed in multiple panel sessions. The topics covered included quality assurance, scientific research, continuing education, internationalization, teaching methods in medical fields, technical and vocational education, and entrepreneurship and innovation in higher education, particularly utilizing information technology and artificial intelligence.
