Cihan University-Erbil Lecturer Successfully Completes International Health Program in the People’s Republic of China

Assistant Lecturer Hero Ismael Mohammed, an academic staff member in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cihan University-Erbil, has successfully concluded her participation in the international training program, titled Capacity Building for Primary Health Care Services in Developing Countries, held in Chengdu, China.
In the final stage of the program itinerary, which involved a visit to the Sichuan Provincial First Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine on Monday, July 6, 2026, participants gained firsthand insights into a range of therapeutic techniques, including acupuncture, moxibustion, medical massage, and herbal pharmacology. Under the supervision of specialists, the participants engaged in practical sessions to identify acupoints and observe the clinical treatment of physical and neurological disorders based on the principles of holistic balance.
The program ended on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, with a formal closing ceremony attended by senior health officials from Sichuan Province and delegations from nine different countries. Representing Cihan University-Erbil, Assistant Lecturer Hero actively participated in the sessions, which emphasized international solidarity in advancing global healthcare systems.
A highlight of the event was a seminar delivered by Dr. Afrasiab Musa Younis, Director General of Health in Duhok, who outlined the Kurdistan Region Ministry of Health’s achievements and strategic plans to enhance primary care services. He also provided a comprehensive introduction to Kurdish culture and national identity, which drew significant interest from the international delegations. The next seminar was presented by Dr. He Yandan on the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine into modern healthcare, noting that China has achieved a 99% implementation rate in its health centers, indicating it is a cost-effective and preventive public health strategy.
At the end of the ceremony, as a gesture of academic and cultural appreciation, Assistant Lecturer Hero presented Mr. Xu Bin, President of the Sichuan Medical Association, with Cihan University-Erbil’s Plaque of Honor. She also presented the Kurdistan Atlas to Mr. Zhang Feng, Deputy Director General of the Sichuan Provincial Health Commission. This initiative underscores Cihan University-Erbil’s commitment to strengthening academic ties with Chinese institutions and fostering a global environment that supports scientific research and human development.
