Cihan University-Erbil strengthens ties with the University of Łódź to expand global partnerships
In a strategic move to enhance international collaboration, Cihan University-Erbil is working closely with the University of Łódź in Poland to expand its network of academic partnerships.
As part of this initiative, a high-level meeting was held between both universities to reinforce their mutual understanding and outline a concrete roadmap for future cooperation. This collaboration aims to foster academic exchange, research opportunities, and cross-border educational initiatives.
On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, a high-level virtual meeting took place between Cihan University-Erbil and the University of Łódź, focusing on strengthening academic ties and future collaborations.
The meeting brought together Prof. Dr. Ayad Hazem, the Vice President of Cihan University-Erbil for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Saleh Mustafa Saleh, Director of International Relations at Cihan University-Erbil; and Assist. Prof Piotr Gabrielczak, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology for Internationalization Affairs at the University of Łódź.
During the discussion, both sides reviewed their past collaborations, conducted scientific, administrative, and financial evaluations, and explored future initiatives. Key topics included participation in the Erasmus+ program to secure study opportunities for Cihan University-Erbil students, expansion of master’s programs, and pathways for Cihan University-Erbil graduates to pursue advanced studies at the University of Łódź.
In addition to discussing student exchange programs and postgraduate opportunities, the recent virtual meeting between them also focused on strengthening faculty collaboration.
In addition, the two universities proposed a faculty exchange program, under which a select number of professors from the University of Łódź would visit Cihan University-Erbil in early September 2025 (the beginning of the 2025–2026 academic year). These visiting faculty members would deliver intensive courses to Cihan University-Erbil students over a few weeks, enhancing cross-cultural academic experiences and knowledge-sharing.

As part of its internationalization efforts, the university offers student and faculty exchange programs, fostering cross-cultural learning and academic collaboration. Through this initiative, 10 students are sent annually to study at the University of Łódź, providing them with valuable international exposure and educational opportunities.
In recent days, Cihan University-Erbil successfully organized the 5th International Scientific Conference in the field of administrative and financial sciences, in collaboration with the University of Łódź and the University of Mosul.
On the sidelines of the conference, several high-level meetings were held between Cihan University-Erbil and the University of Łódź, during which key areas of mutual interest were discussed. These discussions aimed to strengthen academic cooperation, enhance research initiatives, and explore new opportunities for collaboration between the institutions.
