Cihan University-Erbil Students Explore International Laboratory Safety Standards in the Czech Republic
On the third day of the specialized scientific training course titled “Occupational Safety and Environmental Awareness,” currently held at Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic, students from Cihan University-Erbil were introduced to international standards for laboratory safety on Tuesday, February 4, 2026.
The session commenced with a technical presentation by the specialized firm Chromservis, which focused on the effective implementation of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) regulations within engineering and scientific laboratories. The curriculum covered several specialized pillars, including an introduction to HSE systems in lab environments, general safety principles, chemical safety, and standard operating procedures for handling hazardous materials. Furthermore, the course delved into comprehensive Risk Assessment methodologies, mitigation strategies, equipment safety, and the protection of scientific facilities.
The participating students from Cihan University-Erbil (Hajer Mohamed Ali and Mohammed Nariman Salman from the Department of Physiotherapy; Mariwan Arab Omar from the Department of Radiological Imaging Technology; and Ali Maher Daoud from the Department of Medical Biochemical Analysis) actively engaged in the day’s activities. A significant portion of the program was dedicated to field applications, which played a vital role in raising students’ awareness and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical execution within world-class advanced laboratories.
The sessions were conducted in a highly organized and interactive manner, emphasizing the practical aspects of ensuring a safe laboratory environment that aligns with rigorous international benchmarks.
