Cihan University-Erbil Students Participate in a Scientific Visit to the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences & Technology (SAASST)
As part of the Youth Leadership Forum activities, students Tabarak Hussein and Tiba Ghazi from Cihan University-Erbil participated in a distinguished scientific visit to the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences & Technology (SAASST). During the visit, they explored the latest developments in space sciences and astronomical technology. Their field tour included visits to specialized research laboratories, the space models exhibition, and the remote sensing center. The visit provided them with an opportunity to discover the latest research and advanced technologies used in space and astronomy studies.
On the third day of the forum, the students participated in several interactive workshops led by esteemed professors and experts in various fields, including sustainability, renewable energy, and space sciences. One of the most notable workshops was Leadership in Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Resilience, presented by Professor Dr. Ali Qublawi. This session covered flexible environmental strategies for addressing climate change and featured case studies of successful sustainable agricultural projects worldwide.
The students also attended a workshop titled Developing Young Leaders in Renewable Energy & Climate Change, conducted by Professor Dr. Abdel Ghani Alabi. This session focused on the importance of renewable energy and the role of young leaders in driving the transition toward a more sustainable future. The discussion also covered current challenges and opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
After completing the workshops, the students visited the planetarium within the academy, where they attended an advanced scientific presentation on space and the universe. The presentation explored planets, stars, and galaxies and featured an interactive simulation of space missions and recent advancements in space exploration. Additionally, the session included discussions on future space missions and the role of advanced technology in studying the universe and unraveling its mysteries.
The students ended their day by participating in a specialized workshop titled “Leadership and Innovation in Space and Astronomy in the Arab World,” presented by Dr. Mashhour and Engineer Marwan from the academy. The workshop emphasized the significance of innovation in the space sector and the role of Arab youth in advancing this field. It also showcased pioneering Arab space projects and examined the challenges Arab researchers face in this sector. Furthermore, participants explored strategies for supporting scientific research and promoting advanced technology in space sciences.
