Cihan University–Erbil Students Participate in Laboratory Safety and Chemical Safety Training in the Czech Republic

On the third day of the international summer program ‘Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)’ at Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic, students from Cihan University–Erbil continued their intensive academic and practical activities. The participating students are Mina Hussein Karim, a third-year Biomedical Sciences student; Kamgar Sarhang Mustafa and Ismail Qadir Azzat, fourth-year Anesthesia Techniques students; and Hardi Obaid Rafiq, a graduate of the Community Health Nursing program. Through their participation in the program, they aim to enhance their expertise in laboratory safety and scientific research methodologies.
The day’s program began with a scientific seminar on the principles of occupational health and safety in laboratory environments. It was followed by a specialized practical session on chemical safety protocols. During the session, the students gained firsthand knowledge of the proper handling and storage of chemical substances in accordance with internationally recognized standards, an essential practice for ensuring a safe working environment in medical laboratories.
A major highlight of the day was a visit to the Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Palacký University. The students toured several research laboratories and clinical units, gaining valuable insights into the institute’s advanced technological infrastructure and the modern laboratory techniques used in Europe.
