Cihan University-Erbil Students Participate in the International Welcome Day at Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW)
On Saturday, October 4, 2025, the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) organized a “Welcome Day” event for international students beginning their studies in the winter semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. Students from Cihan University-Erbil actively participated in this significant occasion.
This semester, SGGW welcomed over 170 students from 58 countries, who are pursuing their studies across various departments of the university. From Cihan University-Erbil, the participating students included Ibrahim Zaki Mohammed Salih, a second-stage student in the Physiotherapy Department; Marwan Mohammed Ahmed, a second-stage student in the Nutrition and Dietetics Department; and Mohamed Ali Baktish, a third-stage student in the Medical Laboratory Analysis Department.
The program began with an address by Dr. Marta Mendel, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at SGGW, who emphasized the university’s pivotal role in promoting international relations and providing a supportive environment for student learning and development. This was followed by a presentation from representatives of the UNIgreen Alliance, who highlighted the benefits of SGGW’s membership in this important alliance, reflecting the university’s ongoing commitment to strengthening international academic collaboration.
Adding a cultural dimension to the event, the Erasmus+ Student Network presented an engaging showcase of Polish traditions and culture, offering international students including those from Cihan University-Erbil an opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation of Poland’s rich heritage. To further encourage interaction and learning, an interactive Q&A session and a short Polish language lesson were conducted by the Language Centre. These activities played a key role in helping students overcome initial language barriers and adapt more easily to their new environment.
The event concluded with warm closing remarks from the SGGW administration, who extended their best wishes for success to all new students. They expressed hope that their time in Poland would be filled with valuable experiences and meaningful opportunities for both personal and academic growth.
