Cihan University–Erbil Students Visit HITEX 2025 Exhibition
With the participation of 120 companies and representatives from 15 countries, the sixth Kurdistan and Iraq Technology Exhibition – Hawler International Technology Exhibition (HITEX 2025) opened at the Erbil International Fair on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Students from various departments at Cihan University–Erbil actively participated throughout the exhibition. In this context, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University–Erbil, visited the exhibition on its first day, getting acquainted with the latest technologies and innovative ideas. He also attended a seminar on the impact of artificial intelligence on daily life, held as part of the exhibition and presented by Dr. Nawzad Yahia Bajger, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities.
Cihan University – Erbil students visited the exhibition sections daily in groups. Fourth-year students from the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, supervised by Dr. Salih Mustafa Salih Zebari, toured the exhibition, focusing specifically on the clinical section ‘Apotek’. They were warmly received by Ms. Evin Hiwa Ali, a nutritionist, food scientist, and alumna of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, Cihan University-Erbil. She explained the working mechanisms of her clinic to the students, emphasizing how to assess nutritional status, counseling pathways, and documentation follow-up. The students then explored other sections of the exhibition and examined dietary planning software programs used in daily service provision.
Additionally, students from the Software Engineering and Informatics Department at Cihan University–Erbil, supervised by Assistant Professor Ghassan Emmanuel, had the exciting opportunity to explore the latest technological innovations at the exhibition. They discovered cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) applications, as well as advanced cybersecurity systems, 3D printing, and intelligent software solutions utilized in various sectors today. The students also attended interactive scientific sessions led by experts and company representatives, gaining firsthand insight into how these technologies function in practice and their real-world applications.
HITEX 2025 also saw the participation of second- and third-year students from the Computer Science Department, accompanied by several faculty members. The visit included a seminar by Dr. Nawzad Yahia Bajger, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities, followed by a tour of the exhibition sections. The students had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge innovation firsthand through a project presented by Najia Nawzad Qader, a third-year student from the same department at Cihan University–Erbil, who showcased a multilingual Kurdish application supporting Arabic, English, and Kurdish in both Sorani and Badini dialects. The application enables users to create personal accounts, publish posts and videos, perform translations, and access features such as an Islamic section, a live local channel, game streaming, messaging, and biographies of prominent Kurdish figures. It also integrates artificial intelligence capabilities for interactive responses and answering user questions.
On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, third-year students from the Interior Design Engineering Department at Cihan University–Erbil, supervised by Assistant Lecturer Lana Shahab Ahmed, explored the latest innovations at the exhibition. The students toured various sections, discovering cutting-edge technologies, smart systems, modern design software, and sustainable materials related to interior design on display. They then attended a workshop highlighting the latest trends in interior design and the role of technology in shaping innovative design practices. The workshop also examined the relationship between cultural identity and innovation in design.
