
College of Pharmacy Organizes Scientific Visit to Cihan Preparatory School

The College of Pharmacy at Cihan University–Erbil organized an educational and scientific visit to Cihan Preparatory School on Thursday as part of the College’s academic activities and community engagement initiatives. The visit was supervised by Teaching Assistant Aya Qaiesar Ibrahim and involved a number of second-stage pharmacy students. The delegation was welcomed by the school principal, Mahmoud Imad, along with members of the teaching staff.
The activity began with a presentation delivered by student Mina Mahdi Saleh, entitled ‘What Is Medicine?’ The presentation introduced the concept of medicine and its importance, providing the students with a simple explanation of medicines, their functions, and their role in treating diseases and maintaining human health.
Student Naleen Amjad Abdul Qader then presented ‘Medicines Taken Orally,’ focusing on medications administered through the oral route. She explained the main dosage forms, their proper use, and the importance of selecting the appropriate dosage form according to the patient’s needs.
For her part, student Malak Nawras Faiq delivered a presentation entitled ‘When Medicine Is Not the Answer or Solution.’ The presentation discussed situations in which a tablet may not be the most appropriate treatment option, explaining that different dosage forms are available and may be selected depending on the patient’s condition and the nature of the treatment.
The presentations concluded with student Rua’a Ahmed Abdul Halim, who delivered a presentation entitled ‘What Happens After Taking Medicine?’ She provided a simple explanation of what happens to a medicine after it enters the body, including how it reaches its target site and produces its therapeutic effect.
The activity witnessed active engagement from the school students, who had the opportunity to ask questions and participate in discussions. This interaction contributed to enhancing their understanding of medicines and pharmacy while providing the College of Pharmacy students with a valuable opportunity to develop their scientific communication skills and practice presenting health-related information in a clear, simple, and accessible manner.
The visit reflects the College of Pharmacy’s commitment to promoting health education, strengthening community engagement, and developing the professional and communication skills of its students through meaningful educational activities.
