College of Pharmacy Students Visit Kawkab Drug Store in Erbil
On November 17, 2025, First and Fourth stage students from the College of Pharmacy at Cihan University–Erbil conducted an educational visit to Kawkab Drug Store, one of the largest pharmaceutical warehouses in the Kurdistan Region. The visit was supervised by Dr. Mhamad Rashid, Ms. Aya Qaiser, and Ms. Mamle Hama Abdullah.
The students were warmly received by Mr. Azad Jalil Qader, the store manager, who guided them on a comprehensive tour of the facility. He explained the procedures for receiving imported medicines, including quality checks and batch labeling, and demonstrated how storage areas are maintained at appropriate temperatures to preserve product integrity. Mr. Azad also highlighted the store’s strict standards for cleanliness and safety and outlined the protocols for handling and documenting expired medications to ensure proper disposal.
The visit provided students with valuable insights into pharmaceutical warehousing, distribution systems, and real-world quality control practices. It enhanced their understanding of daily operations, inventory management, expiration tracking, and pricing procedures key responsibilities in ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance.
Field experiences like this play a vital role in professional development, helping students build a strong foundation for their future careers as pharmacists.
