Community Health Nursing Department Students Explore Diagnostic and Surgical Services at Mehrabani Hospital
On Monday, October 12, 2026, third-stage students from the Department of Community Health Nursing at Cihan University–Erbil participated in an educational visit to Mehrabani Hospital, accompanied by Dr. Thamari Thankam and Ms. Baran Jumma.
The programme began with a welcome address by Mr. Luqman Latif Aziz, Assistant Manager, who introduced the students to the hospital’s facilities and healthcare services.
During the visit, the students explored key diagnostic units, including CT scanning, MRI, ultrasound, laboratory services, and the blood bank. These observations helped them understand the role of diagnostic investigations in identifying medical conditions and supporting clinical decision-making.
The students also toured several clinical departments, including Orthopaedics, General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This experience provided them with valuable insights into the functions and responsibilities of specialised hospital departments.
A particularly valuable part of the visit was led by Dr. Dler Shina Othman, a general surgeon and member of the hospital’s founding and management team. He guided the students through the patient care area and explained two surgical conditions: umbilical hernia and intestinal obstruction. His explanations helped the students connect their theoretical knowledge with clinical observations and understand the importance of accurate assessment in surgical care.
