Computer Science Students Hold an AI Awareness Workshop at Capital City Private International High School
Second-stage students from the Department of Computer Science – College of Applied Sciences organized an awareness visit to Capital City Private International High School – Cambridge International School, Capital City on Sunday, February 1, 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Reem Jafar Ismail.
The delegation was received by the school principal, Mr. Hersh Mahmoud Karim, who expressed his appreciation for this scientific initiative, emphasizing its role in strengthening cooperation between universities and high schools and encouraging students to pursue modern scientific disciplines.
During the visit, Dr. Reem Jafar Ismail delivered an introductory lecture highlighting future job opportunities for graduates of the Computer Science Department, particularly in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. She emphasized the growing importance of these specializations in both local and global labor markets, as well as their vital role in supporting digital transformation and technological advancement.
The visit also included a scientific awareness presentation entitled ‘Foundations of Artificial Intelligence’, in which the students introduced the core concepts underlying AI systems, from mathematical and logical foundations to practical applications across various aspects of life. The presentation addressed the challenges students may face in the absence of AI technologies, explained problem-solving mechanisms, and outlined the factors that enable intelligent systems to think, learn, and make decisions.
This visit is part of a series of scientific activities organized by Cihan University–Erbil, aimed at connecting academic knowledge with the community, promoting a culture of innovation among high school students, and encouraging them to pursue scientific and technological disciplines that meet future demands.
