Computer Science Students Transferring E-Commerce Expertise to the Next Generation
Fourth-stage students from the Computer Science Department at Cihan University – Erbil visited Hawler 2 School on Monday, October 27, 2025. The enriching visit took place under the direct supervision of Assistant Professor Laith Faleh Razzouqi.
The school principal, Ms. Safan Talib Hussein, warmly received the student delegation and praised the university’s initiative, which aimed to enhance the knowledge of school students about modern technology. The initiative focused on delivering an educational seminar for tenth-grade students, introducing them to the concept of Electronic Commerce (E-commerce) and its growing strategic importance in today’s global economy.
A simplified explanation was provided, tailored to the students’ understanding, about the mechanisms of conducting commercial transactions and buying and selling goods and services through digital platforms, compared to traditional trade. Emphasis was also placed on the significant benefits of this type of commerce, such as the flexibility to shop anytime and from any location, the ability to expand business reach to wider markets, and the potential to reduce operational costs.
Additionally, the fundamentals of website development were introduced. A general, simplified, and motivating explanation was presented to the students about the initial and essential steps required for creating and building electronic websites.
To make the session more practical and engaging, the Computer Science students showcased a demonstration of their own project a digital store for selling sportswear. They briefly and clearly explained to the audience how to design and develop the website’s front-end interfaces using a visual development environment and basic programming tools.
