Dental Students Conduct Charity Health Campaign at Local School
On February 12, 2026, second-stage students from the College of Dentistry at Cihan University organized a charitable outreach activity at Fakher Mergasori English Private Basic School, as part of their ongoing commitment to community service and social responsibility. The initiative was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Sawen Tahseen Taha and was warmly received by Assistant Principal Arshad Hamad and the school principal, Dr. Samal MargaSori.
During the visit, dental students provided free blood sugar and blood group examinations to help assess potential health conditions among pupils. They also delivered educational guidance on oral hygiene, explained the effects of excessive sugar consumption on teeth, and demonstrated preventive measures to maintain healthy smiles from an early age. As part of the campaign, children requiring further dental care were identified, and toothbrushes and toothpaste were distributed to encourage proper daily oral care. Dr. Samal expressed her appreciation for the students’ efforts and highlighted the positive impact of such humanitarian initiatives on children’s health.
At the end of the event, she presented a letter of appreciation to Assistant Lecturer Sawen Tahseen Taha and the College of Dentistry in recognition of their dedicated service. This charitable activity underscores the vital role of dental education in community engagement and reflects the College of Dentistry’s continued commitment to improving public oral health through volunteer and outreach programs.
