Dental Technology Students Promote Health Awareness at Hewr Private High School for Girls
As part of their ongoing commitment to community outreach and practical scientific engagement, first-year students from the Department of Dental Technology at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a field visit to Hewr Private High School for Girls on Thursday, February 5, 2026. The visit aimed to deliver a health awareness seminar and provide essential medical screenings for the students.
The initiative was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Mohammed Hussein Raouf. The university delegation was warmly received by the school principal, Ms. Awat Yousif Ahmed, and the teaching staff.
The program featured a seminar titled ‘Fast Food and Sugar: Hidden Dangers to Health.’ During the session, students presented an in-depth analysis of the physiological risks associated with high sugar consumption and fast-food diets, emphasizing the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle. In recognition of this academic contribution, Hewr High School’s administration presented an appreciation certificate to the Department of Dental Technology.
In parallel with the seminar, the university students conducted a clinical screening campaign, which included blood group testing and blood glucose monitoring for many high school students. Personalized health advice was also provided, focusing on disease prevention and the importance of proper nutrition.
This activity offered Cihan University–Erbil students a valuable opportunity to refine their practical and clinical skills while contributing to community service. It reflects the university’s dedication to bridging the gap between academic learning and public health advocacy.
