Department of Architectural Engineering: A Scientific Visit to Cihan College School
A group of second-year students from the Department of Architectural Engineering at Cihan University-Erbil conducted a scientific visit to a local primary school on Thursday, January 23, 2025. This visit, organized by Lecturer Dr. Rebwar Ibrahim, aimed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the design considerations and spatial requirements for educational facilities, particularly primary schools.
The main objective of the visit was to examine a similar local project as a reference for students’ current architectural assignment: the design of a primary school. This practical experience served to connect the theoretical lectures on educational building design with practical implementation, parallel with the department’s emphasis on integrating theory with practice. During the visit, students received detailed explanations of the key aspects to be considered in their analysis, including:
- The spatial layout and organization of classrooms, playgrounds, and administrative areas.
- The relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, ensuring functionality and accessibility.
By observing and analyzing these elements, students were encouraged to reflect on how they could apply these insights to their designs. This visit also meant to develop their ability to critically analyze similar projects that would enhance their ability to perform creative solutions to the project.
The Department of Architectural Engineering at Cihan University-Erbil remains committed to exposing its students to various project types and site analyses.
